Four Arms Chenrezig

The 4-Armed White Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara) & its various body’s forms signify:

“White Body” symbolizes purity of the Body, Speech and Mind.

“Five direction Buddhas’ crown” symbolizes the wisdom of the Five directions’ Buddhas.

“He is arrayed in Silk-&-ornaments of a Bodhisattva” symbolize the solemnness of Sambhogakaya

“Four arms” symbolism
a.  Four Immeasurables of
– Loving kindness,
– Compassion,
– Joy
– Equanimity.
b.  “Four Activities” symbolizes
– 息 (PEACE),
– 增(INCREASE),
– 怀(MELTING/Power),
– 诛(CHANGE/Wrath)

Two of his four arms are joined in the prayer position holding the wish fulfilling gem symbolizing Fulfilling all wishes of Sentient Beings.

His right hand holding a crystal mala symbolizes liberating countless beings from suffering

His left hand holds a white lotus which symbolizes purifying the defilements of sentient beings

He wears upper robe of doeskin (trinasara) on his left shoulder symbolizing the pure Loving Kindness & Compassion of Buddha’s Mind.

“Vajra Posture” symbolizes the stable meditative state.

“The Six Symbolism” represent the Six Paramitas.

Prostration Prayer to Four Arms Chenrezig

Lord, not veiled by any fault, your body of white colour
Your head adorned with a perfect Buddha
Gazing at beings with Compassionate eyes
To you, Chenrezig, All-Seeing One, I prostrate.
